Happy Independence Day of Ukraine!

On August 24, 1991 at 18:00 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine proclaimed the Act of Independence of Ukraine. Subsequently, on December 1, more than 90% of Ukrainians said their "yes" to independence in a referendum.

We are proud of our country and our free and strong-willed people. And today we want to remember a few interesting facts:

  1. Ukraine has 7 own miracles. Within our country there are 7 monuments recognized by UNESCO. We are talking about St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, the ancient city of Khersones, beech forests in the Carpathians, the Kamenets nature reserve in Kamyanets-Podolsky, the Sofiyivka arboretum in Uman, the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, the Khortytsya Island nature reserve, and the Khotyn fortress.
  2. The first evidence that we are used to seeing in apiaries was invented in Ukraine.
  3. The Ostroh Academy is the first institution of higher education in Eastern Europe. And by the way, our country is the fourth in the world in terms of the number of people with higher education.
  4. The Arsenalnaya metro station in Kyiv is the deepest in the world, 105 meters.
  5. Ukraine is the only country in the world that has voluntarily renounced nuclear weapons. In the early 1990s, our country owned the world's third largest nuclear potential.
  6. Ukrainians are mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records more than 50 times.
  7. The longest embankment in Europe is located in Dnepropetrovsk, its length is more than 30 kilometers.
  8. The most famous Christmas song in the world is the Ukrainian "Shchedryk".
  9. The highest monumental sculpture in Europe is the Motherland in Kyiv, its height is 102 meters.
